Task Based Language Teaching

TBLT is a learner-centered approach and therefore it draws knowledge from the learners, working through their interests and needs, and selecting activities, materials and tasks accordingly. At all stages, negotitation between facilitator and learners is encouraged and learning is seen as a colaborative process. TBLT relies heavily on learners participation and active practice.

The best conditions for learning a language are: exposure to the language, opportunities to use the language, motivation and instruction.

TBLT represents a paradigm shift from the traditional PPP, Presentation, Practice and Production to a new one:

Pre Tasks
Task Process
Post Tasks

The new language is introduced through the pre tasks before the task process. The Task involves 3 stages: The task itself, the planning stage and the report. After the task is finished and reported to the class there are post tasks of two kinds: analysis of the language and practice of the language. In this stage the language is analysed and there are also more tasks to practice the language.
